Sesame Hand Pies

These are traditional hand pies known as 'Xutuli pitha' in Assam, India.

Ingredients:
1 cup plain rice flour
1 cup sticky rice flour
100g jaggery
150g oil
150g sesame seeds
Directions:
Make a paste of the jaggary with 2 tablespoons of water. Mix rice flour with half of the paste and keep aside.
Heat a large pan. Toast the sesame seeds for 5 minutes and remove from pan.
Grind the sesame seeds and mix thoroughly with remaining jaggary paste.
Next make small balls with the rice flour mixture.
Roll out the balls and flatten into a circle.
Put a teaspoon of sesame jaggery mixture in middle of the flattened balls. Fold into half moon shape pies.
Heat the oil in a pan. Fry the pies four. at a time.
Fry pies on both sides until browned in about 6-7 minutes. Serve as snacks with tea or coffee.
