Chicken Cooked with Poppy seeds

Ingredients:
500g chicken, cut into pieces
2 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tsp lemon juice
2 cloves
1/2 inch cinnamon
4 cardamom pods
1 big onion
1/2 inch ginger
6 garlic cloves
4 green chilis
150ml vegetable oil
1 tsp turmeric
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste
Directions:
Cut the chicken into portion sizes and marinate with the lemon juice for 20 minutes.
Make a paste of the ginger and garlic. Slice the onion thinly. Grind the poppy seeds into a paste with a little water.
Heat the oil in a pan. Add the bay leaf to the pan first. Then put the cloves, cinnamon (broken into small pieces) & cardamom in the pan and fry for about 2 minutes.
Add the sliced onion and fry for about two minutes.
Put the ginger garlic paste and poppy seed paste in the pan and fry for about 2 minutes.
Add the chicken and cook stirring occasionally for about ten minutes.
Add the chilies sliced lengthwise, salt, turmeric powder and half cup hot water to the pan. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat as soon as water evaporates. Serve.
