Pumpkin Chakka Recipe

Ingredients:
150gms pumpkin, cubed
4 medium potatos
2 tbsp. channa dal (yellow split lentil), soaked for 12 hours
1/2 inch ginger
2 green chilies
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
6 fresh curry leaves
1 tsp. ghee
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
sugar and salt to taste
1/2 cup water
Directions:
Soak the channa dal for about 12 hours.
Peel and cut the pumpkin into cubes. Halve the chilies. Peel and quarter the potatoes. Peel the ginger and smash it.
Heat the ghee in a large pan over medium high heat. Place the pumpkin pieces in the pan and fry for 5 minutes and then take them out of the pan.
Now put the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves in the pan and saute for 2-3 minutes.
Add the channa dal, pumpkin, potatoes, turmeric, salt and stir fry for 5 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup water and ginger. Cook covered over medium low heat for about 15-20 minutes or until potatoes are cooked.
