Jackfruit Fritters (Pakoras) Recipe

These exotic jackfruit pakoras or fritters are made with ripe jackfruit flesh.

Ingredients:
1 small ripe jackfruit (500g)
250g chickpea flour (besan)
250ml cooking oil
2 tsp dry chilly powder
2 tsp mixture of cinnamon, clove, cardamom powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
Salt to taste
Directions:
Cut open the jackfruit, take out the pods and remove the seeds from the flesh. If the pods are big, slice them into two pieces.
Mix the spices with the chickpea flour, add water and mix to make a smooth paste.
Heat the oil in a large pan. Dip a jackfruit pod/aril in the the chickpea paste, put in the hot oil and cook until done. Fry two-three pods at a time until golden brown.
Serve hot with a sauce of your choice like mustard or tomato.
