Sake Poached Pears w/ Wasabi Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients:
4 Asian pears, peeled, cored and quartered
2 cups sake
2 cups water
4 tbsp sugar or more to taste
1 cinnamon stick
For chocolate sauce,
1 1/2 tbsp wasabi or to taste
4 tbsp semisweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp water
Directions:
Place the sake, water, sugar and cinnamon in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add the pear slices and simmer on medium-low heat for about 30 to 40 minutes or until tender.
Remove pan from heat and let cool completely.
To make sauce, add the chocolate chips, butter, water, and wasabi to a small pan. Simmer over low heat until smooth, stirring occasionally.
Remove cooled pear slices from the liquid and set aside. Simmer and reduce the liquid in the pan to half if desired.
To serve plate pear slices on serving dishes. Drizzle with chocolate sauce or pour sauce first and then place pear slices on top. Drizzle with reduced liquid if desired and serve.
